Last week, I attended the World Intelligent Process Automation Summit 2023 in Berlin with our partner Plant An App.

This was my first time attending this conference and I was not exactly sure what to expect. It was interesting to get insights from users of Intelligent Process Automation (IPA) or Robotic Process Automation (RPA) as this is not a field we are active in. Whenever possible we try to use existing APIs or create new APIs exposing the needed data in our customer projects.

Some of the presentations showed solutions that looked similar to what we have built for our customers in the last few years:

  1. Michael Tramnitzke and Unis Ahmed from Beiersdorf shared their insights on gathering data insights on how their production sites perform. This reminded me much of one of our predictive maintenance projects.
  2. Annalisa Zappavigna from Generali showed their work on a platform to process and rate documents for easier processing automatically. Parsing and processing documents are the heart of a product we've developed for a partner for the last 10 years. Even though we have not yet used AI, it was cool to see how others have similar ideas for completely different use cases.

My favorite talk was probably the one by Anne-Christine Lane from PostNord Group covering how they use chatbots and AI specifically to improve the customer journey. It was quite impressive to see the attention to detail. Really impressive work!

Besides my travel issues with Lufthansa and Deutsche Bahn, I enjoyed being at the event as well as the conversations I had with the speakers and the attendees.
