SymfonyLive 2026 Berlin Recap

I was on a little adventure: I attended my very first Symfony community event. SymfonyLive 2026 in Berlin on April 23-24.

This was a special experience for me as it marked my first time attending a Symfony community gathering. And trust me, it definitely won't be my last! From the first day on, I felt genuinely welcomed by everyone around me.

The Talks That Stood Out

Aside from the social gathering, there were lots of interesting talks that gave me fresh inspiration, motivation, and new perspectives on things I'd like to try out.

The Talks

There were many interesting talks throughout the two days. "Accelerate: Debugging Performance in PHP" by Sebastian Bergmann was one of my favorites. It was interesting to see his workflow when it comes to tracking down performance issues in PHP applications.

The AI theme was strong this year. "Symfony AI-Mate" by Johannes Wachter and "Symfony AI in Action" by Christopher Hertel both showed different angles on integrating AI with Symfony. From the Mate component itself to practical use cases beyond just building chatbots.

What stuck with me most was "AI Culture in Open Source - The Sylius Way" by Magdalena Sadowska. She made a point I hadn't really considered before: introducing AI into a project isn't mainly a technical challenge, it's a cultural one. The Sylius team's experience with this over the past year was eye-opening.

Beyond the Stage

The hallway conversations were just as valuable as the scheduled talks. I had many engaging discussions with many great people. I enjoyed every little second with the community.

Conclusion

I can really recommend attending a Symfony community event in person if you get the chance. The energy, the conversations, and the sense of being part of something bigger than your daily work - you won't regret it.

Thanks to the organizers and everyone involved who made SymfonyLive 2026 in Berlin possible. I'm already looking forward to the next event!
